Modiin – City of the Future

The city of Modiin is located about 35 kilometers southeast of Tel Aviv and 30 kilometers west of Jerusalem, near the site of the ancient Modiin described in the Talmud.

The cornerstone for the present-day Modiin was laid in 1993.

It is a modern planned city with high standards of urban planning. Environmental issues and future growth were taken into consideration from the early design stages.

In 2010 it had a population of 74,300 residents.

Between the years 2011-2012, I documented the construction sites in the new neighborhoods of Modiin and also the different public buildings and public areas around the city.

It’s amazing how clean and colorful everything is, but I can’t escape the thought of how fast the well preserved landscape of the hills of Modiin, a landscape that dated back to biblical times, has changed and disappeared forever.
